Grandmas Bingo Bag

What do you get for the woman who wants nothing?!?! Year after year it gets harder and harder to shop for my loved ones. As an extended family, we are lucky to be pretty self-sufficient when it comes to things we need and are also pretty low maintenance when it comes to things we want. For the most part, we all agree that there is no point in buying things just to buy them. We like to buy things that are meaningful, that the recipient will really use. For my mother in law this year we decided to combine two of her favorite things to create her Christmas gift. Grandkids + Bingo = Grandmas Bingo Bag!!!

For me, this project was fun because it combined two of my favorite things, my kids and crafting! I love crafting, surprise, surprise! My kids are constantly asking what I’m working on and if they can help. Usually, I feel guilty because the projects are not very kid-friendly. This one was different! I was able to turn their work into my work!

I began by heading out to my local Michaels to pick up the bags, cups, and HTV vinyl. If you do not live near a Michaels, you can also find similar products on Amazon.com like these bags.

Once you have your blank (bag, cup, etc.) you can start on the fun part! For this project I asked my kids to write fun messages using felt tip pens. You can use any color as long as there is a good contrast to make working in Design Space easier. The photos below are what I started with.

As you can see, they do not need to be fanc to start with. Simply upload the images into Design space. Once uploaded simply use the crop, remove and erase functions to remove everything from the image except the writing you want to use.

Once they are cleaned up you will end up with images like this:

I used HTV for the canvas and Permanent Vinyl for the cup. When it comes to vinyl there are so many brands but honestly I go by reviews when buying online and stick with Cricut brand when its on sale at Michaels other craft stores.
